Afghan media president, Eşref Gani, announced that in the near future, Uzbekistan will visit a series of cooperation agreements between the two countries.
One of the main topics of the meeting with the Uzbek side will be cooperation in the field of railway communication. The scope of this cooperation was stated as the opening of the railway line that reached Herat through the four provinces of Afghanistan, with the trains departing from Mezar-i Sharif. It has been suggested that Uzbekistan could be a part of this line.
Talnews agency, referring to the management of the Afghanistan railway department, stated that Uzbekistan is interested in this project. The report also reported that another railway line will be built from Mezar-i Şerif to Kunduz.
Abdul Bari Seddiqi, deputy leader of Afghanistan railways management, pointed out that with the implementation of the project, Uzbekistan will have direct access to Iran's ports.
