Speed Train

There was a possibility of a step back in the project to popularize high speed train services in Russia. According to the media, "The speed train line announced to be built between Moscow and Kazan cities may not reach Kazan at all."

According to the news Vedomosti newspaper cites sources close to the Russian Railways Administration (RJD), there were not enough resources for the Kazan phase of the project. Accordingly, the construction of the high-speed train line will start with the Moscow-Vladimir stage, and the fate of Kazan will be determined later.

Sources state that the Moscow-Vladimir line is planned to be completed before 2023.

The construction of the 770 kilometer Moscow-Kazan high-speed train line was first introduced in 2013. The estimated investment cost of the project, which is planned to be realized in cooperation with the private sector and the state, was announced as 1 trillion rubles (17 billion dollars).
