Out of 6 thousand 658 lodgings belonging to the State Railways nationwide, 2 thousand 55 were determined to be vacant and the leasing of these lodgings was adopted. Answering the question proposal of CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer, Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication Minister Ahmet Arslan said that they can rent out to third parties who want vacant houses that are not requested by the staff. Some of the lodgings are located in intermediate stations and away from settlements. Minister Arslan stated that they can make leasing transactions for 2 thousand 55 residences in the TCDD inventory and said: “Some of the vacant dwellings are located in the intermediate stations, in the places where there are distant, social and economic difficulties and transportation and housing opportunities are limited. Some of them are in a level that does not meet the minimum living conditions and are not demanded by the staff. In case of demand by third parties, the rental operations of these houses can be realized. White Goods Industrialists Association of Turkey (TÜRKBESD) Chairman Guler Ergun, said the excise duty with the support of the industry's first 8 months, 4 main product grew 9.2 percent. Transport Minister Ahmet Arslan announced that in the past 10 years, 38 station buildings and 302 lodgings belonging to TCDD were destroyed due to technical reasons. Emphasizing that 6 railway stations on the border were closed due to the civil war in Syria, Arslan said, “The closed stations are Martyr Arif, Mustafa Yavuz, Türkyurdu, Bekçiler, Goçar and Serçehan.”
