August 12, 1869 Porthole Company Board of Directors withdrew from Rumeli railways business with a surprising decision. This decision was only reported to Babıali on August 16.
12 August 1888 European lines were contacted and the first train from Istanbul to Vienna departed from the famous “Orient Express = Orient Express” Sirkeci station.
12 August 1939 Payas-İskenderun (19 km) line was taken over with the annexation of Hatay.
