The 300 km long Doha Metro will serve the Greater Doha area and provide links to urban centers, key commercial areas and residential areas in the city. The metro, which will be built at level or elevated on the outskirts of the city, will be underground in the central area of Doha. The metro will consist of four lines, namely Red, Gold, Green and Blue, and will have 100 stations. The Red Line will be primarily constructed and will connect New Doha International Airport to the West Bay in central Doha. The Qatar rail network will be completed before the opening of the 2022 World Cup, allowing sufficient trial operations.
The Golden Line (Gold Line) tender is among the investments made in preparation for the 2022 World Cup. 4.4 On April 23, with the signing ceremony in Qatar, Yapı Merkezi and STFA have signed the tender with the biggest price that the Turkish contractors have ever received abroad.
The duration of the work is 54 month and it is planned to be completed in August 2018. At the same time 6 pieces will be worked with Tunnel Boring Machine.
Joint initiative of the project; Yapi Merkezi from Turkey and STFA, Aktor from Greece, India Larsen Toubro, and was created by Al Jaber Engineering from Qatar. In the Gold Line package construction contract, which has the largest volume among Doha Metro packages, Yapı Merkezi and STFA have the biggest share in the Joint Venture with a share of 40%.
Considering the city's busy residential areas, the metro lines in the center of Doha are planned to be completely underground.
