Following the first tender held in December last year, but the Tender Commission did not find the submitted offers valid, a second tender was held in April. As a result of the examinations, Çağdan Müh. Müt.San.ve Tic.A.Ş. & Waagner-Biro Austria Stage Systems AG Consortium won the tender with a bid of 429 million TL. After the completion of the legal process and the place of delivery will begin construction of Turkey's first opera house.

163 Annual World Giant
Waagner-Biro is a 163-year-old construction company in central Vienna, located in the consortium to undertake the construction of the new opera building of İzmir, which is aimed to stand out among the examples of the world with its architecture, stage design and unique location. Specializing in areas such as stage technology, steel-glass technology, bridges and special machines, Waagner-Biro has been signing art venues around the world since 1854.

The opera and theater buildings of cities such as Sydney, Venice, Vienna, Berlin, Copenhagen, Moscow, Buenos Aires, Rio, Seoul and Shanghai are among the most well-known works of Austria.

The Turkish partner of the consortium Çağdan Engineering Contracting Industry and Trade Joint Stock Company was founded in 1985. The company has made various construction works such as sports facilities, swimming pools, drinking water and waste water treatment plants, factory buildings, space roof systems, public housing buildings, health facilities, dormitory buildings, educational facilities, concert hall. The company's ongoing works include the construction of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra of the Atatürk Cultural Center.

The facility, which has a construction area of ​​73 thousand 800 square meters, has a courtyard with a 350-audience capacity - open performance area, workshops and warehouses, main service units, administrative division, general facilities, technical center and parking for 525 vehicles.

The opera house will stand out among the European examples in terms of technical equipment, especially stage design. Its foyer will include a bookstore, opera shop, bistro and ticket office. Parking lot, public transport stop, car and taxi pockets were arranged on the road passing in front of the foyer. It has two separate entrances from the square and the street facing the sea. The opera house will also have a tram line connection. The opera house was designed to be used actively at any time of the day, not just on representation days.
