Screening studies will begin in the first half of 2017 with the tenders with ongoing preparatory work. The canal to be opened in the north axis will provide circulation in Izmir Bay. With a 250-kilometer approach channel, which will have a width of 14 meters and a depth of 13 meters, larger container ships will be able to easily enter the Bay. Alsancak Port, which is indispensable for Izmir and our country, needs to be enlarged to keep it alive. Thanks to dredging, the port's growth prospect will increase. The way has been paved for the privatization of the port, making the necessary investments and operating efficiently. Thus, our Izmir will have the opportunity to reach the cruise port with a modern passenger terminal where 4-5 ships can dock at the same time.
Ports will grow by clustering

Exactly 4 months after the suspension of the project, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization announced the final EIA Positive Decision. In the EIA approval statement made by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization of İzmir Governorship, it was stated that 'the issues stated in the Final EIA Report and its annexes for the project in question and the relevant provisions of the regulations enacted pursuant to the Environmental Law No. 5491 amended by Law No. 2872, The necessary permissions must be obtained from the institutions / organizations and the information forms regarding the start of the investment and the construction period must be submitted to our Ministry, and the changes subject to the Regulation to be made in the project must be submitted to the Governorship of İzmir.
The project will start in the first half of 2017
Preparations will begin for the channel that will provide circulation in the Gulf and the deepening works that will allow large tonnage ships to enter Izmir Port.
Within the scope of the work, which is planned to start in the first half of 2017, two lines of 25,5 kilometers in the Gulf will be deepened by dredging ships with a function similar to a vacuum cleaner.
Handling: According to the Customs Law No.4458, the term handling refers to the stacking, relocation, transferring from large containers to small containers, renovation or repair of containers, ventilation, sieving, mixing and similar processes without changing the original characteristics of the goods under customs supervision.
