Eurasian Tunnel Opened for Opening Days

Days Left To The Opening Of The Eurasia Tunnel: The end of the Eurasia Tunnel, which connects the Anatolian side and the European side, is now counted. The project, which is carried out under the responsibility of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the tender of the project, which was carried out on 12 June 2007, will be put into service on December 20, 2016, for the expansion and improvement of the tunnel entry and exit roads.

cities where the most intense vehicle traffic in Turkey, Istanbul. The Eurasia Tunnel Project expects a faster, safer and time-saving journey for the people of Istanbul, who experience great difficulties and time losses, especially on their way to and from work. The journey, which takes about 2 hours in time zones with heavy traffic flow, will be completed in 15 minutes thanks to the Eurasia Tunnel. As the transition distance between the two sides becomes shorter, they will be able to save on the fuel of the vehicles.

The Eurasia Tunnel Project, which will significantly reduce the travel time between Kazlıçeşme and Göztepe, was planned in connection with two existing bridges crossing the strait.

5,4 kilometers of the Istanbul Strait Road Tube Crossing Project, which is publicly known as the Eurasia Tunnel Project, consists of a two-storey tunnel built with a special technology under the sea floor and connection tunnels built with other methods. Road expansion and improvement works have been completed on a total of 9,2 kilometers on the European and Asian sides. The approach roads between Sarayburnu-Kazlıçeşme and Harem-Göztepe were expanded, and intersections, vehicle underpasses and pedestrian overpasses were built.

Will not be affected by earthquake and tsunami

One of the world's leading engineering projects, 24 will have an advanced system for safe and uninterrupted traffic flow throughout the hour. The tunnel, which is the product of the most advanced design, technology and engineering applications, was constructed in a structure that will not be affected by earthquake and tsunami risks. The tunnel can be used as a shelter when necessary with its superior security features. It will serve with modern lighting technology, high capacity ventilation system, special fire installation easily accessible from every point of the tunnel, fire resistant surface coating, emergency evacuation systems and safety strips located every 600 meter.

There will be closed circuit camera system, event detection systems, communication and notification systems where 7 day is monitored at 24 hours. High-tech infrastructure with speed control in the tunnel will be provided.

The two-storey construction of the tunnel, which features modern lighting, high-capacity ventilation and a low slope of the road, will positively affect driving comfort thanks to its contribution to road safety. The Eurasia Tunnel will provide uninterrupted travel in adverse weather conditions such as fog and ice.

The maximum speed in the tunnel is determined as 70 kilometers per hour, the tolls will be 4 dollars VAT for cars, and 6 dollars VAT for minibuses will be in Turkish lira. Passages in both directions in the tunnel will be paid, and drivers will be able to pay the tunnel toll through the Fast Pass System (HGS) and the Automatic Pass System (OGS). There will also be a cash desk, and passengers will not be paid separately.

The General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications commissioned the Eurasia Tunnel Enterprise Construction and Investment Inc. (ATAŞ) to design, construct and execute the 24 year 5 month operation. Upon completion of the operation period, the tunnel will be transferred to the public.
