Monorail Debate in Izmir Municipality Council

Monorail Debate in Izmir Municipal Council: Bilal Doğan, Deputy Chairman of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Ak Party Group, said at the Municipal Council Meeting that there is no news about the ESBAŞ Station-New Fairground Monorail Project, which the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has not yet started to construct.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council November 2. was held in the assembly hall of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Speaking at the meeting of the AK Party Dogan, ESBAS Station-New Fair Area Monorail Project by the metropolitan administration announced to the people of Izmir in 2013, but then no explanation was made about the project, he said.

Saying that the Environmental impact assessment approval regarding the ESBAŞ Station-New Fairground Monorail Project made them happy, Doğan said that while we were looking forward to this project, we were once again disappointed with the news from Istanbul and Ankara. The tender was launched on January 20, 2016. On February 24, a contract was signed with the contractor firm. The company, which received the job for 970 thousand liras, would deliver the project in 10 months. So, if you put aside the tender and construction process of 2 kilometers and 2 stops, including the wagon fronts, at best the monorail would be ready only at the end of 2016. However, unfortunately, as far as we see, there is no news about the project or the tender yet, he added that it is not possible to start the project before 2020.

Deputy Mayor Sırrı Aydoğan, who led the meeting, responded to the criticism of Bilal Doğan, Ak Party Group Deputy Chairperson, at the council meeting where İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu did not attend:
Until the end of 2015, we only got permission from the highways for the monorail project. "We will make a tender in 2016, and in 2017 we will deliver the site," he said.
