IMM, Prepared to Fight the Winter for the Failure of Transportation

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) has started to prepare for the winter months to continue and to continue the normal life of the city.

BEUS (Icing Early Warning System) was installed at 43 critical points within the scope of winter fighting. Additional measures were taken while making 13 BEUS systems and traffic control cameras ready for use for Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and ring roads. Automatic spraying system against icing was established along the 1.8 km road at Haramidere Junction. Salt bags (10 thousand tons) will be left to critical points throughout Istanbul.

At the meeting, efforts to combat snow-ice and ponding, which are likely to happen in the winter, were discussed. Providing information on the winter preparations of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department Head Muhammed Şahin said that they will carry out winter-fighting activities with 1345 vehicles and 7000 personnel. Şahin stated that they are ready for winter with 7 intervention points in the 373 thousand 363 km route network in Istanbul.
Provincial municipalities will be provided with salt and solution support by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and will be supplemented on demand. In addition, the district municipalities will be supported by the Metropolitan teams when their facilities are insufficient. The village roads will be opened by 145 tractors fitted with snow plowing blades and under the supervision of the headmen. 6 units will support the snow plow works on the highways and if necessary.

Collection centers were planned for orphans living on the streets. Citizens gathered with police, police and ambulances will be hosted after their health check. Preparations were completed at the Men's Oliveburn Complex, the Hospice for Women. District Municipalities will bring the homeless citizens they have identified in their region to the guesthouses of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
