Sabiha Gökçen Airport, located on the Asian side of Istanbul, comes from the second runway and the tower that will be noticed from the city's skyline. Parallel to the 3 thousand meter runway at the airport, a new runway of 600 thousand 715 meters will be built with an investment of 1.3 billion dollars, of which 3 million dollars is construction and construction 500 million dollars is expropriated.
Within the scope of the project, the existing tower serving at the airport will be demolished and a new one will be built. The project, which will start at the beginning of 2014, is aimed to be completed in 4 year. With the completion of the new runway, the passenger capacity of the airport will increase from 30 million to 70 million. The Airbus A380 will also land on the runway. 500 people will work in the construction of the runway. The existing control tower will also be demolished under the project. The planned new tower will be increased to 112 m and diameter 26 m. The tower building, which will be one of the longest examples of its kind in the world, will be noticeable in the city skyline during the day. The tower will become a lighted lantern at night.
