The opening of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, the construction of which started three years ago, will take place with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım.

Built in the Bosphorus within the scope of the Northern Marmara Motorway Project, the bridge will be the widest bridge in the world. The bridge, which has a width of 59 meters and a tower height of 322 meters, will also break a record in this regard. The bridge, which has a span of 408 meters and a total length of 2 meters, will receive the title of “the longest suspension bridge in the world with a rail system on it” with this feature. Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge cost 164 billion dollars. The bridge will have a total of 3 transport lanes, with 4 highway lanes in the departure and arrival directions and 2 railway lanes in the middle.
Passage for cars 9.90 TL
The operation of the Northern Marmara Motorway will be carried out by IC İçtaş-Astaldi JV for 10 years 2 months and 20 days. At the end of this period, it will be delivered to the Ministry of Transport. When the construction of the third bridge and the highway is completed, there is a Treasury guarantee for 135 thousand passenger cars per day. Passing from Europe to Asia will start from 9.90 TL for cars, and 13,20 TL for heavy tonnage vehicles depending on the axle range and number. Transitions from Asia to Europe will be free. The cost of the connection roads of the bridge will be 24 Kurus per kilometer.
Heavy vehicles now pass
Vehicles, including the bridge, will be added 24 cents per kilometer to the bridge fee, depending on the distance from which junction. Automatic calculation will be done accordingly. On the European Side, all connection roads from Odayeri to Mahmutbey toll booths have been completed, while on the Anatolian Side, exits and entrances from Riva, Çamlık, Paşaköy and Kurtköy will be possible. With the bridge coming into service, the passage of heavy vehicles will now take place over the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge instead of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. The bridge is expected to ease the transit traffic burden in Istanbul.
