For Çamlıca Mosque, instead of the cable car, the metro is coming: It was canceled from the cable car project on the Mecidiyeköy-Çamlıca line, which is aimed to have traffic density for the Çamlıca Mosque in Istanbul. Instead, the metro line will be advanced.

Mecidiyeköy-Camlica cable car project was canceled. The project will carry passengers to the mosque in Camlica. The proposal for the annulment of the cable car project, which also includes the 10 station on the 6 kilometer line and which was included in the 2016 budget program of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), was discussed at the IMM Assembly on July.

In the report of the Reconciliation and Public Works Commission, different transportation alternatives were studied on the cable car route between Mecidiyeköy-Zincirlikuyu-Altunizade-Camlica and therefore the cable car project was abandoned. The Commission found the cancellation of the project to be of public interest. The decision of annulment was approved by the CHP and AKP members.

METRO EXTENDED

Following the cancellation decision, IMM officials stated that the metro will come as an alternative to cable car transportation. According to the news of Habertürk, officials said.

“The cable car project starting from Mecidiyeköy and providing transportation to Zincirlikuyu, Altunizade and from there to Çamlıca has been canceled, but the metro will replace the cable car. It is not a new metro, the metro that is available from Altunizade will be extended to reach Çamlıca Mosque. The Metro will extend 3.5 kilometers more, but will not go directly to the mosque, and the passengers will be delivered to the mosque with a stop to be established near the mosque. ”
