Railway works started in Sakarya: The infrastructure works of the railway project to be built between Adapazarı and Bartın in Sakarya's Söğütlü district started. Söğütlü Mayor Hüseyin Genç said that the part of the project between Arifiye and Karasu districts will be built in the first stage and that the region will become a trade center with the meeting of Karasu Port and the railway.
Work started in Söğütlü for the railway project to be built between Adapazarı and Bartın. After the expropriation money was paid to the citizens, the construction equipment started to flatten the hilly areas on the route of the railway. Söğütlü Mayor Hüseyin Genç made examinations in the area where the railway was built. Stating that the section of the railway between Arifiye and Karasu districts will be built in the first place, Hüseyin Genç said, “We know that our district will advance about 10 kilometers from inside. In the first stage, the railway to be built between Arifiye and Karasu will serve as a freight train and a station will be placed between Söğütlü and Ferizli. It is stated that after the construction of the Bartın connection, it can also carry passengers ”.
Stating that their districts will be commercial areas, Hüseyin Genç said, “When the Karasu Port is put into service and meets with the train, it will be inevitable that our region will also become a commercial district. We will make a large park, the large area left over from the railway that will pass through the empty area 200 meters from the Söğütlü Festival area. We will continue our investments by protecting our agricultural lands, ”he said.
