The Passenger Counting System and Light Curtain technology, applied in 95 new vehicles of Izmir Metro, is on a rail system train for the first time in our country.
Izmir Metro A.Ş.'s 95 new vehicles, which are still being manufactured in China, stand out with their features to be implemented for the first time in our country. In the new sets, which will cost approximately 240 million TL and will start to be in Izmir as of next month, there will be special modules on each door that calculate the number of passenger entrances. Thanks to the module called Passenger Counting System (YSS), the Traffic Control Center will be able to see the occupancy rates of the wagons and thus, it will be possible to direct the passengers to more empty wagons.
DOORS ARE MORE SAFE
Another innovation in the new sets is called the "Light Curtain". This curtain comes into play just before the doors are closed, sees if there is an object in between and commands the door according to the incoming data. The system is important not only in Turkey, but also in terms of being the first structure to be implemented by IFE (Automatic Door Systems) in the world. Another innovation is the light strips in the door window glasses. The lanes are easily visible to passengers from the inside or outside and warn the passenger if the door is out of use. Thus, unnecessary waste of time is prevented at the doors.
The first two of İzmir Metro's train sets, each of which has five wagons, set off by ship on July 21. Train sets are expected to be in Izmir at the end of August. Each train set coming to İzmir will be put into operation after necessary controls, trainings and test drives. All of the train sets will arrive at the end of next year.
NUMBER OF VEHICLES WILL BE 182
