First step for the Istanbul Thessaloniki high speed train line

The first step was taken for the Istanbul Thessaloniki high speed line: TCDD and the Greek Railways IV. Within the framework of the agreement reached at the meeting, the first meeting of the Joint Experts Group, which was established for the realization of the project regarding the establishment of the high-speed train line between Istanbul and Thessaloniki, was held at the General Directorate of TCDD in Ankara on 14 July 2016.
Burak Ağlaç, Head of Surveying, Design and Investment Department, made a presentation on the current projects of TCDD which are under construction and design studies and gave information about the stage of the projects in question.
Representatives of the Greek Railways delegation also provided information on the current lines of improvement in Greece and on the ongoing new line works and financing models.
At the meeting, it was decided to prepare a draft study including the route and detailed technical features of the mentioned line and share it via e-mail in order to determine the road map to be followed in the project related to the establishment of the high speed train line between Istanbul and Thessaloniki and to obtain concrete data.
