Eurasia Tunnel is coming to take the traffic burden of the Historic Peninsula

The Eurasian Tunnel is coming to take the traffic burden of the Historic Peninsula: the Avrasyol Project, which will connect the Asian and European continents for the first time through a highway tunnel that runs beneath the sea floor, is fast and meticulous. Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Ahmet Arslan visited the construction site and examined the works on site. The deepest point of Avrasyol was given to Arslan at the depth of 106 from the sea surface. Minister Arslan also made a statement to the press on Avrasyol's last stand at the European exit point. Minister Arslan, ras Eurasia Tunnel; Istanbul, the historic peninsula to be burden, not to come to take the burden, ada he said. Avrasyol is planned to be completed and put into service in December. With Avrasyol, the journey time in Kazlıçeşme-Göztepe route, where traffic is very intense in Istanbul, will reach 82 minutes to 2016 minutes. Safe, comfortable and practical access to drivers will be provided.
The Avrasyol Project, which was tendered by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments (AYGM) on the Kazlıçeşme-Göztepe line with the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, and the construction works of which are being carried out by Yapı Merkezi and SK E&C partnership, is put into service before the planned time. Studies for 7 days and 24 hours continue uninterruptedly.
82 of the project was completed in the tunnel and approach roads under the Bosporus. The installation of the tunnel which is excavated has been completed. Road tunnels opened by classical tunneling (NATM) method are also completed and road expansion and art works are underway.
Arslan received information under the 106 meter of the sea surface
Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Ahmet Arslan, 9 June 2016 visited Avrasyol construction site on Thursday and made observations. Mr. ATAŞ's Chairman, Başar Arıoğlu, who came to Arslan, ATAŞ CEO Seok Jae Seo and ATAŞ Executive Vice President Mustafa Tanrıverdi gave information about the ongoing works. Başar Arıoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ATAŞ, stated that Minister Arslan was one of the signatories of the Avrasyol Project and presented the photograph to the Minister when he was signed at that time.
Arslan entered the Bosphorus Crossing, which was completed with Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), which was developed specifically for the project, on the Asian side. Arslan and members of the press conducted a study on the seismic seals which increased the resistance of the Project against the earthquake after walking for a while in Avrasyol. Minister Arslan, the sea surface of 106 meters below the deepest point in the Tunnel members of the press and project employees took a souvenir photo.
Minister Arslan, Avrasyol's European exit point on the last tabliye made statements to members of the press. Minister Arslan, '' the Eurasian Tunnel is a project with records. Eurasia Tunnel; He is the brother of Marmaray who came to Istanbul not to be a burden to the Historic Peninsula but to take the burden. And it is Eurasia that has received awards around the world. 'Nobel' tunneling, Oscar'i say, say, received the most prestigious awards. It was a project that could contribute to environmentalism and also received awards in this field. Çevre
In his speech Minister Arslan shared the details of the project and continued:
“This record project ensures that the traffic on the Historic Peninsula in Istanbul passes under the sea to the Anatolian side without further tiring Istanbul. It also allows you to switch to the European side in 15 minutes without using bridges from the Anatolian side. We reached 82 percent in construction in the Eurasia Tunnel. Our goal is to complete the Eurasia Tunnel in December and present it to the service of Istanbul. We expect 120 thousand vehicles to pass through the Eurasia Tunnel and approximately 40 million vehicles per year. With the conveniences of this project, Istanbulites will prefer the Eurasia Tunnel and we will pass the 120 thousand figure within 1-2 years and increase the numbers above it. The Eurasia Tunnel will continue to serve without the slightest damage, even in the largest earthquake, which is thought to happen every 2.500 years. ”
Travel time between two continents will go down to 15 minutes
The travel time of Kazlıçeşme-Göztepe line, where the traffic is very intense, will go down to 15 minutes.
Avrasyol will provide safe and comfortable travel on this route with its advanced technology. Features such as modern lighting, high capacity ventilation and low slope of the road will increase the comfort of your journey.
The construction of Avrasyol on two floors will contribute positively to driving comfort thanks to its contribution to road safety. One-way pass through the 2 strip on each floor.
Continuous travel will be provided in adverse weather conditions such as fog and frost.
The key link that complements the highway network will be the fastest possible transportation between existing airports in Istanbul.
Reduction of traffic density will reduce the exhaust emission rate.
In the eastern part of the historical peninsula, a significant reduction in traffic will be achieved.
Bosphorus, Galata and Unkapanı will be felt as a relief for vehicle traffic in bridges.
The structure will not harm Istanbul's silhouette.
Avrasyol's Asian entry will take place in Harem, while the European side entrance will take place in Çatladıkapı.
Tunnel 7 will serve the day 24 hours.
Only minibuses and cars will be allowed in the tunnel.
Vehicles will be able to pay with OGS and HGS systems, while no additional payment will be made for passengers in the vehicle.
Thanks to the emergency telephones, public announcements, radio announcements and GSM infrastructure at every 100 meter, an uninterrupted communication opportunity will be provided and the flow of information will not be interrupted in an emergency.
The First Response Teams with any equipment and training in the tunnel entrances and within the 7 / 24 will intervene within a few minutes of any event within the tunnel.
Avrasyol was designed according to an earthquake magnitude of 7.5. Built under the Bosphorus, the system will be able to continue the undamaged service in the biggest earthquake of 500 in Istanbul every year, while the 2 bin 500 is being constructed in such a way that it can be opened to service with minor maintenance in the event of a yearly earthquake.
An example of the world's engineering success
Avrasyol Project consists of three main sections with a total of 14,6 kilometers. The most important stage of the project is the 3,4 km long Bosphorus Crossing. The world's most advanced TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine - Tunnel Boring Machine) technology was used for the Bosphorus Crossing. TBM progressed 8-10 meters a day and completed 3 meters and 344 months of work in August 16. In the tunnel consisting of a total of 2015 bracelets, seismic bracelets were installed at two different points in order to increase the resistance against a possible earthquake. Seismic bracelets, which are specially designed and produced after being tested and proven in laboratories, became the 'first' application in the world in the 'TBM Tunneling' sector considering the current diameter and seismic activity level. In addition, high performance precast concrete segments used in the production of bracelets in the tunnel were produced in Yapı Merkezi Prefabrication Facilities with the aim of 1674 years of service time. In the analysis and simulations carried out by the international certificate organization, the ring life is reported to be at least 100 years. Within the scope of the project, regulations on tunnel approach roads on Asian and European sides continue. While the existing 127-lane roads are extended to 6 lanes, improvements are made, such as U-turn, crossroads and pedestrian level crossings.
Sample performance in occupational safety
While 1800 employees take part in the Avrasyol Project, a total of 195 construction equipment is used in the construction. Occupational safety and health have always been at the forefront during the project. 62 thousand hours of work safety, health and environmental education were given to the project staff. In the Project, where occupational safety rules have been fully implemented, no deaths have occurred until today.
