Additional costs incurred by ground problems, one of the reasons for delay in the Izmir Metro Üçyol-Üçkuyular line, have also brought legal problems to the Metropolitan Municipality. With the decision of the Council of Ministers in the construction of İzmir Light Rail System 2nd Stage Project Tunnel Works and Izmirspor and Hatay Stations, the contract price increased by up to 40 percent. In addition, additional costs appeared in construction. Upon complaint, the Ministry of Interior Civil Inspectors made an investigation about this construction. Investigators investigated allegations that there was a project error, so that invert concrete collapsed due to water pressure, and that 11 million 303 thousand TL of excess money caused public losses to correct this situation. Investigators determined that the public damage should be collected from the consultancy firm, which also conducted ground surveys, that this was not done, and that the municipality did not have sufficient control. In line with the report of the civilian inspectors, with the signature of Minister of Internal Affairs Efkan Ala, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu, Deputy Secretary General of the period, ESHOT General Manager Raif Canbek, Banliyo and Rail Systems ex-Branch Manager Hasan Poyraz and four bureaucrats. President Kocaoğlu and 6 bureaucrats will object to the investigation with their application to the Council of State. If the objection is rejected, a prosecution may be brought against them by the Prosecutor.
