China's CRRC to produce Metro Trains for Chicago

Chinese Company CRRC to Manufacture Subway Trains for Chicago: A new agreement has been signed between CSR Sifang JV, a subsidiary of the Chinese company CRRC, and the Chicago Transportation Department. According to the signed agreement, CSR Sifang will produce 400 7000 series metro wagons for Chicago. As a result of the agreement made on March 9, 846 wagons in total will be produced for $ 1,31 billion, if deemed necessary.
Chicago Transportation Department said in a statement, the metro cars to be produced will be similar to the 5000 series of wagons said. It will have features such as LED lighting system and information screens on trains with stainless steel body.
The first of the 7000 series trains to be produced is scheduled to begin testing in 2019. The trains that will be replaced by the oldest trains in the Chicago subway are expected to start their voyages in 2020.
