E-Transformation in Foreign Trade and Logistics: Electronic Document Workshop, hosted by Istanbul Commerce University, discussed the use of electronic documents in the logistics sector and foreign trade. At the opening of the workshop, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Istanbul Commerce University. Dr. Hüner Şencan stated that this workshop will open new horizons in foreign trade and pointed out the increasing importance of using electronic documents with each passing day.
UTIKAD President Turgut Erkeskin emphasized the importance of digitalization in the rapidly developing logistics sector and emphasized that all components of the sector, including customs, should be digitized. As a result of the workshop, which was attended by managers from UTİKAD, TOBB, İTO, insurance and banking sector, it was decided to detail the study with the meetings to be prepared by Istanbul Commerce University academicians in the upcoming period.
It is observed that electronic document usage has become widespread in almost every platform in recent years. Electronic documents have started to replace printed documents in foreign trade and logistics sector. However, the fact that the systems within the country are not integrated and the speed of transition to electronic documents is not at the expected level seems to be a factor that pushes the development of the sector on the digital platform.
