These roads, which will be made to be made, will significantly relax the problem of increasing freight traffic especially in İzmir-Manisa-Aliağa triangle.

Speaking at the meeting Manisa Provincial Director of Science and Industry Technology Assoc. ÇANDARLI AND ALIAGA PORTS TO BE EXTENDED UP

Assoc. Dr. Çiğdem Sofyalıoğlu gave information about the results of the prepared report. The studies, results and suggestions made in the project were expressed as follows: “The feasibility of the Logistics Center planned to be established in Soma was tried to be evaluated from various perspectives with this project supported by the Victory Development Agency. Soma district is located at an intersection point on the routes of Istanbul-İzmir Highway, which is under construction with the Gulf, and the Istanbul-İzmir and Bandırma-İzmir YHT projects, which are under construction with the Northern Marmara Highway. In addition, it is planned to extend these land and railway connections from Soma to Çandarlı and Aliağa ports. The roads to be built will further increase the importance of Soma due to its strategic location on both railways and highways, as well as relieving the increasing traffic problem in İzmir and its surroundings, especially in the Izmir-Manisa-Aliağa triangle.

SHALL BE POSITIVE POSITION ON SHIP TRAFFIC

Soma district is 87 km away from Aliağa ports, which has an important place in the region's exports, and 76 km away from Çanakkale Port of North Aegean. When the port with 18 m dock depth is completed, it will become an important base of transit transportation as a competitor to important transfer ports such as GioTauro, Malta, Damietta, Alexandria, Haifa, Port Said and Piraeus in the Eastern Mediterranean due to its features, as well as the Caucasus, Asia and Goods coming through the Middle East can be transported to Europe and other parts of the world through this port. Çandarlı port and it linked Soma logistics center, although the owner of the Silk Road in history to revive potential, on Turkey and the region is one of the major problems in the area of transport Canakkale and ship traffic in the Bosphorus will also have a positive effect. In this way, the amount of cargo passing through the straits for both domestic and international destinations will be reduced. Moreover, it can be said that Mersin Port and Black Sea connection, which can compete with Çandarlı and the connection roads in this respect, significantly increased the chance of both Çandarlı and Soma as a result of the suspension of the Yenice Logistics Center.

THE PORT CONNECTIONS WILL MAKE SOMA A WASTE PLACE

Its advantages such as its proximity to the ports of the region, the route of railway and highway projects and the planning of the connection of these routes to Çandarlı and Aliağa Ports make Soma district an attractive place for the planned logistics center in the region. In addition, if the infrastructure of existing OIZs in Soma and its surrounding areas such as Kırkağaç and Akhisar are improved, the local demand for the region's trade volume and the logistics center in Soma will increase. An important advantage of Soma in attracting investments is its advantage in the investment incentive system compared to the surrounding provinces and regions. For example, investors coming to the region will be able to receive investment incentives in better conditions compared to Bergama, which is located in the borders of İzmir, which is located in the immediate vicinity. All these and similar advantages will draw the production axis in the Marmara region in this direction. Therefore, production congestion in the Marmara region will be relieved in the long term.

WORKS WILL START TO BE FORMED IN THE 2016 YEAR

The center to be established is expected to have a size and infrastructure that can provide national and international logistics services. However, it is thought that the anticipated cargo demand can only be realized if a customs office is established in the center and the railway projects route under construction is extended from Soma to Çandarlı and Aliağa Ports. It is thought that the works of the Country Logistics Master Plan will begin to take shape in 2016. The plan is planned to be completed in the next three years. Based on the possible developments, if the Soma Logistics Center project, which is planned to be established in a public-private partnership, is accepted and started to be built in 2020, it can be expected to be operational in 2022 after the completion of the infrastructure and superstructure works within two years. ”
