London Mayor Candidate Impressed By Marmaray

London Mayor Candidate was Impressed by Marmaray: Stating that he was very affected by the infrastructure and transportation investments like Marmaray in Istanbul, London mayor candidate Sadık Khan said, “This should be done in London too”.
London, the capital of England, will elect its new mayor on May 5th. While five different party candidates were nominated for the election, opinion polls pointed to the high chances of Sadik Khan, the candidate of the main opposition Labor Party, for the post of president. If Khan is elected, he will become London's first Muslim mayor.
Born in London to a Pakistani family, 45-year-old Khan answered questions about Turkish society and election promises.
Saying that he was very impressed by the infrastructure and transportation investments such as Marmaray in Istanbul, Khan continued as follows:
“This should also be done in London. The population is expected to be 2020 million in 9 and 2030 million in 10. We will invest more in the transport and housing sector. Air pollution is also a big problem in London. ”
“If I am elected mayor of London, I want to compete not only with Paris, New York and Berlin, but also with Istanbul or other cities in China or India. I would like to see the young population in Istanbul as an opportunity and see Istanbul and London working with each other. I want to bring trade delegations from Istanbul here and make them invest in London ”.
"Young people should understand Islam"
Saying that British youth is seen to be radicalized, Khan said, “We have to make young people understand real Islam, not what terrorists are trying to spread. We should ensure that young people are good examples and more integrated. "I think the current anti-radicalization strategies of the government are not working," he said.
