Marmaray relieves traffic in Istanbul

Marmaray relieved the traffic of Istanbul: Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, said that under the influence of Marmaray, there was a decrease in the number of vehicles passing through the Bosphorus bridges for the first time at 2015.
Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yıldırım, stated that vehicle traffic on the Bosphorus bridges has decreased with Marmaray, which entered service in 2013, “We have carried approximately 122 million passengers with Marmaray since its opening. Under the influence of Marmaray, the number of vehicles passing through the Bosphorus bridges for the first time in 2015 decreased. ”
Minister Yıldırım said that thanks to Marmaray, launched at 29 October 2013, the number of vehicles using the Bosphorus Bridges and Fatih Sultan Mehmet connecting the Asian and European sides of Istanbul was significantly reduced.
Expressing that approximately 122 million passengers have been carried in Marmaray since the day it opened, Yıldırım said, “In 2014, over 150 million vehicles passed through the Bosphorus bridges. Last year this number was around 141 million. Under the influence of Marmaray, the number of vehicles passing through the Bosphorus bridges for the first time in 2015 decreased. ”
