Big day at the Bay Crossing Bridge: The first deck will be placed on the Gulf Passage Bridge, the most important point of the project that will reduce the distance between Istanbul and Izmir to 3.5 hours.
The first deck of the Izmit Bay Crossing Suspension Bridge, which is the 4th among the world's largest suspension bridges, will be placed today.
Binali Yıldırım, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, will be present for the placement of the bridge decks of the Gebze-Orhangazi Izmir (Including Izmit Bay Crossing and Access Roads) Motorway Project, which was tendered by the General Directorate of Highways with the Build Operate-Transfer model. The deck placement will end at the beginning of March. The assembly of the main cable twisting process of the bridge and the assembly of the suspension clamps have been completed.
87 THERE IS A GUN
A total of 87 decks will be placed on the bridge, which is called the pearl of the Gulf. 26 of them are specified as giant decks. Each of the giant decks weighs 580 tons and is 50 meters long. The remaining 51 decks will weigh 290 tons and be 25 meters tall. When the project is completed, it is foreseen that the Istanbul-Izmir road, which currently takes 8-10 hours, will descend in 3.5 hours and in return, 650 million dollars will be saved annually. It was stated that in the 33-kilometer giant project, 91 percent of the expropriation works on the entire route were completed. Work continues in the construction of 3 large tunnels within the scope of the project.
6 WILL BE STRIPED
