Electric factory established for trams
The horse-drawn trams, which are considered to be the milestone of public transportation in Istanbul and famous for their successors, provide uninterrupted service for 1914 years until 43. After the start of the Balkan War, the transportation services in the city are interrupted for a while when the horses in the hands of the Tram Company are compulsorily recruited. Seeing that this situation is not possible to continue in this way for a long time, the Ottoman State starts to work for the transition to electricity. Thereupon Silahtarağa in 1913, Turkey's first power plant was established February 11, 1914 before the tram network, then supplying electricity to the city.
