Making a statement at the end of the meeting, Governor Çakacak said, “Within the scope of this project, we aim to increase the freight and passenger transportation by adding the third and fourth lines to the existing railway line of 67 kilometers between Mersin and Adana and to reduce the travel time from 45 minutes to less than 30 minutes. In addition, all 22 level crossings, 32 of which are within the provincial borders of Mersin, will be closed and pedestrian under or overpasses will be replaced by pedestrian underpasses or overpasses, and the entire course will be covered by arranging the passages in the residential units with noise curtains. In addition, passenger platforms will be built at all stations and stops, and these platforms will be mutually interconnected with pedestrian under and overpasses ”.
Çakacak stated that the first phase of the cargo handling unit was completed and ready for use regarding the Yenice Logistics Center, which is located on an area of ​​415 decares in Yenice and is the closest logistics center to Mersin Port, and that the tender preparations are continuing for the second phase.
