113 decks will be placed on Izmit Bay Crossing Suspension Bridge

There will be 113 decks on the Izmit Bay Crossing Suspension Bridge: There will be 650 workers, 500 of which are welders, at the Izmit Bay Crossing Suspension Bridge, which will be the fourth largest bridge with the largest span in the world. It will reduce the transportation time between Istanbul and Izmir from 9 hours to 3,5 hours.
The work on the bridge, which constitutes the biggest leg of the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway Project, continues. 6 decks will be placed on the bridge, which will reduce the duration of the Gulf to 113 minutes. The project, which brought a new silhouette to the Gulf of Izmit thanks to the towers reaching 252 meters in height, will begin assembly work on January 20. The first deck will be placed in the section at the bottom of the towers. The project, which is planned to be completed in February, has 650 workers, 500 of which are welders.
Will be opened in April
The bridge, which is described as the "necklace" of the Gulf of Izmit, is expected to be opened in April. The construction process of the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway build-operate-transfer project was determined as 7 years. The construction works of the Gebze-Gemlik section of the Izmit Bay Crossing Suspension Bridge are planned to be completed and opened to traffic next year.
The advantages that the whole highway will shorten the distance to the 95 mileage according to the current state route are calculated in the feasibility studies, resulting in the 8-10 hour of 3-3,5 hours to be reduced to 650-XNUMX hours and in return XNUMX million dollars will be saved.
Passing the Gulf by car using the existing road will take 1 hour 20 minutes, while the ferry crossing will take 45-60 minutes, while the planned gulf crossing (12 kilometers) will decrease to 6 minutes.
