Korkan reminded that Minister of Transport Binali Yıldırım conveyed the issue to him when he came to Edirne for the AK Party Congress; “Before, our Minister of Transport had attended a congress at Binali Yıldırım Mimar Sinan Sports Hall. We conveyed this request to him there. After all, this is a historical building. Wouldn't it be nice if a train came from Greece and went into the country from here? A protocol can be made and the train from Greece can be a stop here. Think about it, those people will come and land in front of this station and come to Edirne.
Therefore, this situation will provide economic gain to Edirne. In addition to this, our people can easily get on the train from here and go there ”.

KARAAĞAÇ TRAIN STATION HISTORY
Sirkeci Station in Istanbul is one of the station buildings built as an example. It was built in neoclassical style by Architect Kemalettin Bey on behalf of the Şark Railways Company.
It is a three-storey, rectangular building with a length of 80 meters. It was one of the most important stations of the railway connecting Istanbul to Europe.
The construction was completed in 1914 in general but it could not be put into service as the railway route changed because of the World War I that started in that year. At the end of the war, the Ottoman Empire remained outside its borders.
July 24, 1923 date of the signing of the Lausanne Treaty Elm, Greece Bosnaköy with the devastation of money in Western Anatolia, was given to Turkey as war reparations. Thus, Karaağaç Station, which entered Turkish borders again, was received from the Greeks on September 14, 1923 and opened for operation in 1930.
However, most of the Rumeli railways remained outside the country's borders and trains had to enter Greece to reach Edirne from Istanbul; Therefore, the construction of a new railway line was initiated. In August 1971, after the opening of the new railway line between Pehlivanköy - Edirne and the opening of the new station building in the city, the rails in front of the Kaarağaç Station Building were dismantled.
Located very close to the Turkish - Greek border, the building served as an outpost during the Cyprus events of 1974; In 1977, he was given to the newly established Edirne Engineering and Architecture Academy, which forms the basis of today's Trakya University.
The building, which was restored by Trakya University in accordance with its original, has been serving the university as the Rectorate Building since 1998. In the same year, the Lausanne Monument representing the Lausanne Treaty was built in its garden, and one of the additional station buildings was opened as the Lausanne Museum.
