China's eye on Russia's first high-speed train project

China's eyes are on Russia's first high-speed train project: China Railways Chairman Şen Haojun said that they plan to increase the high-speed railway construction volume in 2016. Şen stated that they are considering investing in Russia as well.
According to the news published in China's state-owned Jenmin Jibao, Şen stated that they will try to sign a contract for the construction of the Moscow-Kazan line, Russia's first high-speed train project in 2016. In addition, Şen stated that they want to take part in the Las Vegas-Los Angeles, Malaysia-Singapore railway projects.
TO BE CREATED TO THE 2018 WORLD CUP
With the Moscow-Kazan high-speed train line planned to be opened in 2018 in Russia before the FIFA World Cup, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced from 14 to 3.5 hours.
The tender held for the project in April 2015 was awarded to two Russian companies and one of the partner companies of the China Railways Group (CREC). However, there were no official signatures for the tender of the project, which would cost 2.42 billion yuan (approximately $ 395 million).
INVESTORS TO BE DETERMINED IN FEBRUARY
With the decree approved by the Russian government on January 13, 2016, the program prepared for the realization of the project was accepted. The investors who will take part in the project are expected to be finalized in February.
