Canoe-Lagos Railway Modernization in Nigeria: Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will attend the China / Africa Cooperation Forum, which will be held in South Africa on 4-5 December 2015. Throughout the forum, Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyema, Transport Minister Chubuike Amaechi and Industry, Trade and Investment Minister Okechukwu Enelamah will be accompanied by the forum.
Garba Shehu, Senior Special Advisor to the Presidency Media and Publicity, announced that President Buhari will discuss the modernization project of the $ 8.3 billion Canoe-Lagos railway with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the forum. The commissioning of the railway, which will connect the cities of Lagos, Canoe, Kaduna, Warri, Bauchi, Abuja and Port Harcourt, is expected to greatly reduce domestic transportation costs, contribute to employment and stop migration to cities.
