Three-storey underground train station in service in China: Huge underground train station of 21 football fields in size
Asia's largest underground train station opened in the city of Xinjiang, Guangdong province, in the south of China.
After New York, Futian High Speed Train Station, which is the second biggest underground station in the world and corresponds to 21 football fields, was built on a total area of 147 thousand square meters.
The three-storey train station will be able to serve 3 thousand passengers at the same time. The station, where many train lines meet, will serve passengers between Şınçin and Guangcou, the capital city of Guangdong province. With the line connecting to Hong Kong in 2018, Guangcou can be reached in 30 minutes by train and 15 minutes from Şınçin by train.
Continuing its huge investments in high-speed train lines, China aims to reduce Hong Kong to the capital Beijing via this line and reduce the distance of about 3 hours by plane to 9 hours by train.
