Bursa and train

Bursa and the train: I wrote a few articles on the connection of Bursa, İnegöl and Yenişehir to the national railway line. Finally, the foundation of the High Speed train that will connect Bursa to Istanbul via Mekecek was laid. Bursa will have high speed train in a few years. Transport trains will run on the same line.

This beautiful development should be applauded. Will this development be a remedy for Bursa's troubles? If you ask, my answer will be no. Of course, it is a good development that the train line reaches Bursa, but it is very insufficient.

Bursa, Turkey's exports ranks third in the rankings. Leaving behind many cities with developed industrial district as a Inegol our airport and our bottle-glass Akdeniz district where the factory, Turkey's fourth largest port of Gemlik free zone where we have.

For years, I have advocated the connection of Bursa to Istanbul via Mekecek and to the Izmir-Bandırma railway line via Karacabey. I stated in my articles that this is not enough.

Industry in Bursa developed at a speed that would surprise us all. The importance of Mudanya, Gemlik and Yalova ports increased. Automotive production in our city has reached 700.000s. We left many provinces behind in the export ranking. There was an increase in imports as well as in exports. One of our Organized Industrial Zone; While there were a few factories scattered in and around the city, 14-15 organized industrial zones were established, including districts. It is expected that many specialized organized industrial zones will be established in the coming years.

My suggestion is that Bursa should not be the intermediate station or the last station of the railway, but that Bursa should be the center of the train routes. Planning a train route centered on Bursa.

Bursa-based railway will reach Mudanya, Gemlik free zone and Yalova ports, respectively. A separate line will connect to İnegöl and Yenişehir airports. A line should be connected to the Gemlik port line through İnegöl, Yenişehir and İznik. In this way, Yenişehir airport will stand out in passenger and cargo transportation and will be more beneficial to the region. The train line should extend to Karacabey and Mustafa Kemalpaşa.

Bursa Railroad Organized Industry, DOSAB, NOSAB, HOSAB, Kayapa, Çalı, Gürsu, Kestel, Barakfaki, Leather should be extended to specialized industrial zones.

Every factory in the developed countries and in the Turkish Republics is connected to the train lines. Train lines enter the factory. Each factory has its own wagons. In the 1930 and 1960 era, which we endeavored to industrialize, the factories were set up near the railways, as in the case of the Merinos station, or the railway line into the factory, as in the recently closed Susurluk sugar factory.

The railway line must be connected to the Renault and Fiat factories producing hundreds of thousands of vehicles and to Yeşim Textile, which exports more than hundreds of millions of dollars.

Shipping is one of the biggest cost items of our industry. As I mentioned above, the railway network to be built will significantly reduce the input cost of Bursa industry. As the number of trucks and trailers will decrease on the highways from Bursa to Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, the traffic will decrease significantly.

The development period of Bursa industry is very fast, as we read the news in the press that some industrial branches in Istanbul will move to Bursa, we will clearly see that the highway and double roads that will pass through Bursa will not be a solution to the increasing truck and truck traffic.

  1. Levent Bey, I agree with what you say. however, the road from Bursa to Bandirma should be connected to the European railway via the Bosphorus tunnel or bridge over Çanakkale.
