first established by the Malatya Municipality Trambus system in Turkey, Malatya turned the world's eyes on Public Transport. Attracting attention with its environmentally friendly, comfortable and saving features, Trambus created more than 80 percent satisfaction by the citizens of Malatya.

The 'International Trolleybus Systems Workshop', organized by the International Association of Public Transporters (UITP) and hosted by the Malatya Metropolitan Municipality, was held on Friday, October 2 in Malatya.
Ramada Hotel in Golden Apricot workshop held from 14 to 40 countries due to join the city with the Municipality of around 130 from Turkey.

In the speeches made at the opening of the Workshop, which started at 09.00:XNUMX; Malatya Municipality Trambus system carried out by the great courage of a project is very important to underline that this project is now Turkey has voiced a project.

Tamgacı: The most suitable system for Malatya is Trambus

Enver Sedat Tamgacı, General Manager of MOTAŞ, first made a speech at the 'International Trolleybus Systems Workshop, where the speeches were translated at the same time.

Saying that public transportation services are a service performed with the care of a healthcare worker who is seriously ill, Enver Sedat Tamgacı said that they are working day and night to maximize the quality of transportation service with the awareness that the development of the city is proportional to the quality of public transportation. Noting that the researches show that the existing energy resources will be insufficient or depleted over time, Tamgacı said, “That's why we decided to build a Trambus system in the name of sustainable transportation. With the instruction of our mayor, we started investigations together with the technical staff of the municipality. We prepared reports on transportation systems and sent them to our president. In these reports, we decided that Malatya would never need a subway or light rail system, considering the population growth rate over the years. Instead, we decided that the trolleybus system was suitable for Malatya as the most suitable alternative, and we called it Trambus system for brand value. As a result, the geographical location and physical structure of our city is the most suitable system for trabuses. "The Trelebus system that we did the workshop of is the result of a decision taken with this sensitivity."

Reminding that Ankara, Izmir and Istanbul used trolleybuses before, but abandoned due to power outages and technology weaknesses, Tamgacı said, "However, when it comes to today, the new generation trolleybus system appears to be renewed and developed itself."

Aydin: Not only in Malatya, Turkey's projects

Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Ankara OSTİM Industry, stated in his speech that the 'International Trolleybus Systems Workshop was a very important workshop and that they came to Malatya to share the happiness experienced. Aydın, in summary; "This project is not only a project in Malatya, Turkey is the project. An example of our local governments in Turkey, we came here because we believe the project. Turkey got the rail system and train public transport was an incredible improvement. And we have to provide all of these abroad. We think that this is not the end and our country does not deserve it. We believe that this will be done by our own local means. We know that there is no obstacle for not doing this. We are very happy and pleased to see this project that we applaud today in Malatya. We do not see this as only Malatya's transportation project. We see examples of all the local governments in Turkey as a project. I went to this podium to express my heartfelt thanks to those who put their heart and signature here, to the technical staff and to our Metropolitan Mayor, Mr. Ahmet Çakır, on behalf of all Turkish Industrialists. We thank him. I want to tell them that they have made a breakthrough. This breakthrough will be an example for our other Municipalities. The first pioneers and those who are ahead face some difficulties and troubles, but then the prayers of those who come after them will be written to them. Therefore, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to a great project and to our dear Metropolitan Mayor. As the OSTIM industry, as a rail systems set, I sincerely thank you as a representative of the Turkish industry. We wholeheartedly believe that this will become widespread. It will set a very good example for our other municipalities. It will not only stay in Malatya, it will spread to other cities, ”he said.

Kahveci: We will implement it in Istanbul in a short time

In his speech, Mümin Kahveci, General Manager of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality IETT, said that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality will implement the trolleybus in a short time. Mümin Kahveci stated that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality started to provide trolleybus service in the 1950s but was removed from the system together with its networks after years in order to try alternative technologies; “But we came back to these systems again after the 1990s. The reason is very logical and realistic. The fact that the work we do and also Malatya chose this project shows its success in a sense. It is an environmentally friendly and accessible project. In addition, 727% design was made by local engineers. We are faced with a system with an organization that has been managed by professional operators and operated professionally for months. We are rapidly implementing similar systems in Istanbul. We also have 2019 km rail systems that we will implement until XNUMX. In addition, we will implement the trolleybus in Istanbul in a very short time. We have finished his feasibility studies. "We will start working on this in the upcoming period," he said.

Later, the Chairman of the UITP Trolleybus Committee Sergei Korolkov made a speech and gave information about Trolleybus.
Çakır: There is over 80% satisfaction in Trambus

Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Çakır gave brief information about Malatya in his speech. Turkey and abroad attended the workshop that the competent person to transport the President noted that the general population and also contribute to the promotion of Malatya on this occasion presented Cakir, thanked the participants.

Noting that the Metropolitan Municipality, which is responsible for the province in general with the metropolitan status, is working to solve the problems in the field of transportation as in every field, Mayor Çakır said, “The development of the cities as a whole has created a great opportunity as a metropolitan city. As much as we are responsible for the center, a healthy solution should be considered in the countryside. We are experiencing a process in which all provinces of our country are also under the same influence and migration from rural to urban continues. There has been an excessive migration from rural to urban for the last 20 years. The population living in the city reached 65-70 percent. We are responsible for the development and infrastructure of the city, as well as transportation, which is one of the most important issues. Transportation in the center is the backbone of general transportation. Therefore, we have worked on this system for many years. We have studied Malatya transportation both economically and considering the population criteria in the coming years, which is the most suitable and economical transportation system for Malatya. As a result, we and our friends decided that the system that emerged as a result of the studies carried out was a trolleybus. Of course, the establishment of a new system is really an incredible subject of opposition and criticism. Together with our friends, we did a very detailed study. During this work, our friends at UITP helped us, led and guided us, and I thank them. We investigated this in great detail and produced the feasibility reports. As a result, we can say that it is much more efficient than feasibility reports at the point we have reached. Now our vehicles have started to work. After all, maybe we haven't completed the investment we have targeted yet. Currently, we lack vehicles even in the first stage. We need to supplement vehicles. The preference is extremely high. There is over 80 percent satisfaction in our surveys. This gave us strength and morale.

Electric public transport needs to be encouraged. We have created this system without any incentive. But when we put all of the expenses in the past months, we have seen that there is a manageable transportation system that can pay off. Traffic congestion needs to be continuously studied, which needs to be constantly worked on, especially in developing countries like us, cities, cities that are still migrating from rural areas need to be more active, dynamic and mobile.

Different systems will be considered in the future, this is also related to the budget of your city. It is also about the choice of our people. Our goal is now, our population is around 600 thousand in the center. The target should be such that we can transport 500 thousand daily passengers by public transport. Let's be able to minimize the use of private vehicles. Our goals are in this direction. Our work will continue, ”he said.

At the end of the speeches, UITP Trolleybus Committee Chairman Sergei Korolkov gave a plaque to Malatya Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Çakır.
