Peker became the chairman of the Transport and Railway Workers Union: At the 3rd Ordinary Congress of the Transport and Railway Workers Union, Abdullah Peker was elected as the leader.
In the written statement made by the union, Peker said, “Since 2009, as the deputy chairman of HAKSEN, I was elected as the general chairman at the 24rd ordinary congress of the Transport and Railway Employees Union, whose short name is UDEM Haksen, held on 25 and 3 October. I would like to express my endless gratitude to my fellow members who supported me and to my brother, Mr. Ayhan Çivi, President of HAKSEN. "
Stating that they will continue to believe in the rule of law, Peker said, “We will continue to produce projects, not a problem. We will continue to stand by the righteous, not the strong. We will be the backyard of the civil servant and our member, not the political parties. We have been and will continue to be at an equal distance to all our political parties except the separatists. We will keep the light rail system project of Cumhuriyet University on the agenda. We will hold meetings with the relevant bureaucrats and the Mayor of Sivas, Sami Aydın, on this matter ”.
