18 October 1898 Il Wilhelm and his wife arrived in Istanbul on the yacht of Hohenzollern. The couple went on a trip to Anatolia with a private wagon allocated by Anadolu Railway Company on October 21. He made a positive impression about the German railways in Anatolia.
