World giants are preparing for Kanal Istanbul

The world's giants are preparing for Kanal Istanbul: The Canal Istanbul project, which will convert a large part of Istanbul to the island, is expected to start construction works by the end of the year. The feasibility studies of the project will cost 15 billion dollars completed.

The Canal Istanbul project, which will convert most of Istanbul to the island, is expected to start construction works by the end of the year. The feasibility studies of the project will cost 15 billion dollars completed. In the previous plans, the population of 1.2 million was taken to the 500 thousand on the grounds of density. Pre-interviews with Chinese, Italian and Russian companies were made for Kanal Istanbul where the Black Sea and Marmara will be connected with an artificial throat.

Last year, the High Planning Council (YPK) decided to start a countdown in the Channel Istanbul project. In the project, which was announced by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2011, the feasibility studies were completed and the project is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Kanal Istanbul, which will be able to finance itself, will be contracted piece by piece. With the announcement of the tender, the details of the project are expected to be clarified and the contracting sector will be mobilized. The urban design projects prepared previously for Kanal Istanbul, where the 15 billion-dollar investment will be handled, will be revised and then a zoning plan will be made. Within the scope of the project, it is planned that 1.2 million population will be included in the project. 500 bin + 250 thousand people or a city of 250 bin + 300 thousand, will be positioned on both sides of the channel. With the integrated projects, the cost of Kanal Istanbul will be calculated as 200 billion dollars, while the construction of 50 thousand people will be created.

Interested in Russian, Chinese and Italian companies
Many domestic and foreign companies are closely following the Kanal Istanbul project. While MWH Global and many Chinese companies that have realized the Panama Canal Project are interested in the tender, TAV is closely following it with its partner CCC. Meanwhile, some preliminary meetings were held with Russian and Italian companies for the project. It was even learned that a very large Russian company could undertake the construction of the canal for a solution to the sea traffic in Istanbul.

The channel will be built in Istanbul 'V' letter
Kanal Istanbul, which will cost 15 billion dollars, is planned to be 25 meters deep and 150 meters wide. Within the scope of the construction works calculated as 5.5 billion TL, it is planned to displace (move to another point) at least 5 highways, roads and railways that will coincide with the project on the east-west axis between the Bosphorus and Silivri. At least 8 and at most 11 bridges are planned to be built on the channel. The project, which will cost 10 billion dollars in total, will be tendered piece by piece. Canal Istanbul will be built in the shape of the letter 'V' cut from the bottom. The width of the lower section will reach 100 meters, and the distance between the two ends of the letter V will reach 520 meters. The depth of the channel will be 20 meters.

Land prices made ceiling
Kanal Istanbul Project will bring great dynamism to the real estate market as of the date when the route will be announced. The location of Kanal Istanbul, which President Tayyip Erdogan defined as the 'Crazy Project', has not yet been announced, but land prices have skyrocketed in places that are expected to be on the route. In the project where Küçükçekmece, Başakşehir and Arnavutköy are 3 alternative regions, the most important reason for choosing this route is that almost 80 percent of the land on the channel axis belongs to the Treasury. Stating that the location of the project is not clear at the moment and that they are working, the officials said, “We are investigating where the shortest path is the most suitable place. "We are trying to determine the route that will be an alternative to the Bosphorus". It is aimed that 150-160 ships will pass through Canal Istanbul per day.
