Limak won the new terminal tender for Kuwait Airport: Limak Construction announced that Kuwait International Airport won the tender for the construction of the new terminal building with an offer of 4,34 billion dollars.

According to the statement made by Limak Holding, this tender won by Limak Construction is the biggest tender won by Turkish contractors in a single package abroad.

The Kuwait Central Tender Commission (CTC) approved the $ 4,34 billion (1,312 billion dinars) bid by Limak Construction in the tender for the new terminal building of the Kuwait International Airport.

Limak Holding Chairman Nihat Özdemir stated that the construction of the new terminal of Kuwait has been a project they have been following for a long time and said, “We are very happy and proud to have taken this project abroad as a Turkish company”.

Özdemir stated that after the tender approval was notified to them and the necessary procedures were completed, Limak progressed rapidly and decisively on the way to become a global Turkish brand by completing the terminal construction and completing it.

Emphasizing that they have accomplished many important projects in the field of airport construction and operation in recent years, Özdemir said, “We have built and operated the new Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport terminal building. We built and operate the Pristina Airport terminal in Kosovo. We are continuing the construction of the second terminal building at Cairo Airport in Egypt. Finally, we won the construction work of the new terminal building at Rostov Airport in Russia ”.

Özdemir underlined that they are in the consortium that will build and operate the Istanbul Third Airport, which will be the largest airport in the world, and said, “As Limak, we will continue to wave the Turkish flag in the world in this sense”.

Passenger capacity 13 million

According to the information given, the first phase will be constructed with a capacity of 13 million passengers. The capacity of the new terminal building of Kuwait Airport will be increased up to 25 million by further improvements. Limak Construction, the main contractor for the new terminal construction project of Kuwait International Airport, whose budget will be fully funded by the state, will also provide maintenance and repair services for two years after the period. On the other hand, after the completion of the terminal construction, the transition to operation will be carried out.

The new terminal building, designed according to the International Aviation Organization (IATA) standards with the highest level of passenger satisfaction, is also very sensitive about the environment. The new terminal building, whose roof will be covered with solar panels, aims to become the first passenger terminal with accreditation at this level in the field of environmentalism by obtaining the “Leed Gold” certificate. Approximately 700 thousand solar panels to be placed on the roof of the new terminal building, which will have a total construction area of ​​66 thousand square meters, will have an installed power of 12 MW.

While the architectural design of the project is made by Foster & Partners, an average of 5 people are expected to be employed during construction. To the extent permitted by the project, the Kuwaiti legislation in significant amounts from Turkey will be held in supplying goods and services. During the tender process, Kharafi National Company was the representative of Limak Construction in Kuwait.
