Transport of Dangerous Goods by Railway: Procedures and principles regarding the safe and safe transportation of dangerous goods without damaging the human health and other living assets and the environment have been determined.

The "Regulation on the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Railway" of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication was published in the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, hazardous materials can only be transported on the railway if it is found suitable for transport in accordance with the relevant sections of the Regulation on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID).

In the transport of dangerous goods by rail, it will be mandatory to use packages certified by the Ministry or by organizations authorized by the competent authority of a RID party.

Maneuvers of wagons loaded with dangerous goods will be carried out at a maximum speed of 15 km / h. The maneuvers will be made depending on the locomotive and there will be no maneuver for throwing and shifting. The maneuvers will take place during the day.

Dangerous goods loaded wagons will be sent by freight trains. In the train organization, the full wagons will not be required to be dangerous goods loaded wagons.

The train will contain dangerous goods loaded wagons in groups. At least one wagon without dangerous goods will be connected between these wagons and the locomotive. If the entire series consists of dangerous goods loaded wagons, an additional safety wagon will be connected to the back of the locomotive.

The Ministry will be able to apply the exemptions and exceptions specified in the relevant international legislation to which we are a party in the transportation of dangerous goods by rail. Exemptions will take into account the mode of transport and handling, as well as the nature, class and quantity of the dangerous cargo.

The routes to be followed in the transportation of dangerous goods on the railway network and the places where stocking, loading and unloading will be performed in the station, the relevant railway infrastructure operator, the routes to be followed in the transportation of military ammunition and explosives, and the places to be loaded and unloaded in the station are coordinated with the related garrison commands. to be determined.

The Regulation 1 will enter into force on January 2016. Wagon conformity certificate will be issued according to the procedures and principles to be determined by the Ministry for cistern wagons and wagons which are used in the transportation of dangerous goods at home and which are manufactured before the effective date of the regulation and which do not have a wagon compliance or approval certificate.
