The accident occurred at night in Bakacakkadı Beldesi Kadıoğlu Mahallesi. TCDD's coal-laden train from Zonguldak to Karabük crashed into a light commercial vehicle with 55 YE 67 plates under the management of 358-year-old Recep Gökdemir at the level crossing where the barrier was not working.
Gökdemir, the driver of the vehicle drifting in front of the train, was injured in the passage where the warning sign “The barrier is malfunctioning, check in.” Gökdemir was taken to Çaycuma State Hospital by ambulance. Despite the intervention made here, Gökdemir died. Machinists İ.S. and CH testified about the accident in the gendarmerie. The investigation is ongoing.
