Joint High Speed Train Project from Singapore and Malaysia: Singapore and Malaysia have rolled up their sleeves for the common high speed train project. The project, which will reduce the travel time between Singapore and Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur, to 90 minutes, is expected to cost around $ 15 billion.

Two separate consortiums of Chinese and Japanese companies submitted bids for the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur high-speed train project. Clear information about the outcome of the tender and the end date of the project will be announced towards the end of the year.
In addition to the high speed train project, Singapore and Malaysia are working on different transportation systems in order to increase the speed of transportation between them and prevent congestion at the border gates. Some of these are transit rail that will connect Singapore with Johor Bahru state of Malaysia and the third road bridge between the two countries.
