China will run a high-speed train line under Everest: China will tunnel under Everest, the world's tallest mountain.

The Chinese administration will build an 540 kilometer high-speed train line to connect the country with neighboring Nepal.

The railway line, which is expected to be completed in 2020, will pass under the 8882-meter Mount Everest, which the Chinese call Qomolangma. In this context, a tunnel whose length has not yet been announced will be opened to Everest.

According to Wang Mengshu, one of the architects of the project, the speed of the high-speed train, which can reach up to 300 kilometers under normal conditions, will not exceed 120 kilometers per hour due to height problems at Everest.

It has been announced that the studies have been initiated in the Chinese leg of the project, which was announced to be implemented at Nepal's request.
