Süleyman Karaman, who has been serving as the General Manager and Chairman of the Board of TCDD since December 2002, resigned from his duty to enter politics. Karaman has been involved in more than 2003 important railway projects, especially High Speed ​​​​Train (YHT) projects since 100.

Who is Süleyman Karaman?

Süleyman Karaman, who was born in Erzincan in 1956, completed his high school education at Istanbul Pertevniyal High School. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1978. In 1981, he completed his master's degree at the same university with "Outstanding Success" and received the title of Mechanical Engineer.

Between the years of 1979-81, he took part in prototype studies, improvement activities and conformity tests about engines, tractors and agricultural machinery in Istanbul Technical University. In addition to his doctoral studies until 1984, Karaman taught Technical Drawing and Machine Knowledge as a Research Assistant at the same faculty.

Between 1984-94, he served as Assistant General Manager and Member of the Board of Directors in the automotive supply industry. He worked in the domestication of imported spare parts such as brake systems, compressor, governor used in automotive main industry.

In 1994, when President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Mr. Karaman was appointed as IETT Deputy General Manager of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and contributed to the launching of AKBİL applications. He played an active role in bringing the modern and transparent bus stops to Istanbul. He started the advertising application for the first time in buses.

During the same period, Karaman, who worked on various subjects in Europe and America, contributed to seminars and presented papers. He also worked in İSFALT, İSBAK, İSTON, İSMER and BELTUR.

Süleyman Karaman was the General Manager of TCDD and Chairman of the Board of Directors at 2002. It was the name that contributed to the successful implementation of more than one important railway project of 100, especially the High Speed ​​Train projects.
