According to the Environmental Impact Assessment report prepared for the Nusaybin-Cizre-Silopi-Habur Railway Project, the railway will start at the exit of Nusaybin Station and reach Iraq via Habur by passing through the stations to be built in Cizre and Silopi.

Within the scope of the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) Action Plan, the project aims to increase the prosperity, peace and happiness of the citizens living in the region by providing economic growth, social development and employment increase, and a railway line of approximately 133,3 kilometers will be constructed.

The project cost of the railway, which will bring significant vitality to the region by connecting the two countries, was determined as 1 billion 770 million TL. The railway to be built between the Nusaybin district of Mardin and the districts of Şırnak, İdil, Cizre and Silopi will have a double track.

With the completion of the project, a fast, economical and uninterrupted transportation opportunity will be provided by providing a full connection between Mardin and Şırnak. The railway line will be built at a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour for freight trains and 160 kilometers per hour for passenger trains, allowing high speed train crossings. Adding 15 minutes as the average stopping time at the stations, it is estimated that a train journey will complete in approximately 81 minutes.

7 viaducts, 8 tunnels and 2 new stations will be built in Cizre and Silopi on different sections of the railway project route. In addition, 2 sayding (railway line parallel to the main railway) is planned to allow the passage of trains from opposite directions on the route.

At the starting point of the line, Nusaybin Station will be renovated and renovated. According to the progress of the project during the construction phase, a maximum of 200 personnel are expected to take part in the operation phase.

Maintenance and repair of wagons and trains to be used during the operation phase of the project will be realized at the time intervals to be determined by the operating organization.
