1,7 Billion Dollar Railway Project from Turkish Company in Ethiopia: The groundbreaking ceremony for the $ 1,7 billion "Awash Waldia-Hara Gabaya Railway Project" to be built by the Turkish firm Yapı Merkezi Holding was held in Ethiopia.

Speaking at the ceremony in the city of Kombolcha in Amhara Province, Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn stated that the railway project will not only connect cities in the country, but also plan to establish a railway network with African countries in the future.

Desalegn, who stated that the 500-kilometer railway project is continuing throughout the country and asked the Ethiopian people to support the project, thanked Türk Eximbank, who gave credit to the project.

Touching on the importance of the railway in development, Desalegn said that they signed the project 2 years ago and they were seeking credit and economic support during this period.

Reminding that they support the transportation sector by air, there are 22 airports in the country, 4 of them are international, Prime Minister Desalegn thanked Yapı Merkezi Holding for its efforts in this project.

Ambassador Yavuzalp

Turkey's Ambassador to Addis Ababa in his speech at the ceremony Yavuzalp Rahman Osman, said he was proud to make such a historic day mission in Ethiopia. Emphasizing that the Turkish and Ethiopian governments work in cooperation for the project, Yavuzalp emphasized that the railway is important for developing countries.

Ambassador Yavuzalp added that the project will contribute to Ethiopia.

Yapi Merkezi Holding Chairman Ersin Arıoğlu in conversation, the project will connect more than before just said Turkey and Ethiopia also not the Ethiopian city.
