Citizen to the price of vegetables and fruits prices cheaper with YHT

Good news for citizens, prices of vegetables and fruits will be cheaper with YHT: Antalya-Kumluca, the heart of vegetables and fruits, will be connected to Istanbul by high-speed train. Thus, an annual loss of 20 billion dollars from transportation, which increases the prices of vegetables and fruits, will be prevented. This will be reflected in a serious decrease in prices.
An important step is taken regarding transportation, which plays a major role in determining the prices of vegetables and fruits, apart from seasonality and weather conditions. Speed rail line to connect to the Kumluca which is critical for the production of fruit and vegetables in Turkey came up. Thus, the transportation of vegetables and fruits to Istanbul will be reduced to 5 hours. In this way, while reaching the consumer from the producer, 20 billion lira per year will be prevented from decaying vegetables and fruits, which will cause a serious cheapness in prices. According to the information obtained, the High Speed Train (YHT) Line of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications from Istanbul and Ankara to Antalya will extend to Kumluca district.
Although the project is not clear yet, a feasibility study is being conducted on the subject. With the connection of Kumluca to the Istanbul-Antalya YHT high-speed train line by rail, transportation-related increases in prices of vegetables and fruits will be prevented. While billions of lira worth of products do not have to go to waste every year, the consumer will be able to buy vegetables and fruits at affordable prices. While there is deterioration due to extreme temperatures in summer, it may take a few days to transport vegetables and fruits from Antalya to Istanbul during periods of heavy snowfall in winter. According to Star's report, with the completion of the line, vegetables and fruits loaded onto the wagon from Kumluca will be able to reach Istanbul in 5 hours and Ankara in a shorter time. Every year, 46-47 million tons of fruits and vegetables is produced in Turkey are destroyed, 20 percent of which corresponds to approximately 25 billion pounds of it.
Investment program
The Ministry of Customs and Trade is also closely following the issue to ensure that producers and consumers suffer less. On the other hand, the road map for the Istanbul-Antalya High Speed Train (YHT) Line is also becoming clear. Steps have begun to be taken regarding the line that will connect Istanbul via Eskişehir-Kütahya-Afyon. According to the information obtained from the Ministry of Development, an offer was made to include Eskişehir-Kütahya-Afyon in the 2015 investment program.
