Snowfall Helped Olympos Cable Car: The peak of Tahtalı Mountain, which is the highest point of the Taurus mountain range in the Western Mediterranean, at an altitude of 2 thousand 365 meters, hosts natural beauties.
Snowfall, especially under the influence of mountainous parts, was felt intensely in Tahtalı Mountain at an altitude of 2365 meters. Olympos Teleferik in Kemer was also positively affected by this snowfall. The Tahtalı Mountain, which encountered snow for the first time in November, became completely white due to the cooling of the weather and the rain falling on high places in the form of snow. Local and foreign holidaymakers who came to Olympos Cable Car on Tahtalı Mountain played snowballs and took many souvenir photos.
The northern-facing region of Tahtalı Mountain, which is the highest point of the Taurus mountain range in the Western Mediterranean, has gained an impressive appearance with the effect of the wind. Akdeniz University Physical Education and Sports High School lecturer and AKUT Antalya Unit Manager Yılmaz Sevgül immortalized this natural beauty with photographs during his climb to the top of the snowy mountain. The tracks left by the wind passing over the snowdrifts created an oyster-like image on the summit.
Yılmaz Sevgül stated that he could not believe his eyes when he saw the traces of the wind on the snow and said, “This is the first time I have encountered such a thing. The northern slope of Tahtalı Mountain has turned into an oyster shell with the effect of the wind. “It gave me happiness to discover such a natural wonder”.
Defending that sudden temperature changes create this image, Sevgül said, “The suddenly warming air softens the snow. The north winds blowing right after, the melting land gives such shapes. "I have been climbing the peaks for all these years, I have witnessed such a beauty for the first time."
