Zaporozhye Provincial Prosecutor's Office Press SözcüSü Maryana Piskunova said in a statement that the explosion on the railway bridge while the freight train was moving was described as a terrorist attack, and that bomb specialists continued their work at the scene. According to preliminary determinations, it was determined that an explosive substance equivalent to 100 kilograms of TNT was used to detonate the railway bridge.
Piskunova also stated that the studies regarding the detection of the perpetrators of the explosion in question continued and that the security measures had been taken in the region, and that the railway had to have a strategic importance.
Yesterday evening, while a freight train passed through the railway bridge near Kuznetsovka station of the railway linking Mariupol with Donetsk in the south of the country, 55 of the 28 wagons on the train were derailed and were not killed or injured in the incident.
