Yaşar Beşli, 40, one of the workers, who stated that they were in a difficult situation due to the unpaid salaries and could not meet with their two children studying at the university, said, “I have been working in the company that built the tunnel for 3 years. Our job was terminated on 30 November without any notification. A total of 175 people were dismissed, and all of them were in a difficult situation. My salary, seniority and notice compensation for about 5 months were not paid. It is stated that our problem will be solved in our talks with the authorities, and we decided to take action to express our situation. We will continue our struggle to seek our rights. We will take action to make our voices heard in Ankara. My two children are studying at university. My phone is turned off because the bills have not been paid and I cannot see my children. Bornova Mayor Olgun Atila bought our tickets to go to Ankara, and we thank him for his support ”.
Employee Kamil Puslu, married and father of a daughter, stated that he could not return home because he did not have money and said, “They always give us different dates for our money to be paid. We decided with friends, we will go to Ankara. We will seek our rights by going where necessary, ”he said.
The workers then got on the minibus to go to Ankara and set out to protest.
