Bay Bridge to be towed in February

The Ropes of the Bay Bridge to be Pulled in February: The foot height of the Bay Bridge, the most important crossing point of the project, which will reduce the Istanbul-Izmir journey to 3,5 hours, reached 252 meters. The shooting of the bridge's ropes begins in February.
Work on the Körfez Bridge, the most sensitive crossing point of the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway Project, continues rapidly. The feet of the bridge, which is now clearly visible from Yalova, have reached 252 meters. The ropes that will connect the two sides of the bridge, where the latest work has been done on the upper points of the piers, will begin in February.
It is possible to walk through the bridge
As Lütfü Elvan, the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, who examined here a while ago, explained that if there is no unexpected setback in the program, the rope-pulling works on the bridge will be completed in February, and in May the concrete will be poured and the silhouette of the bridge will appear. It will be possible to walk across the bridge in June. However, the bridge will be opened to vehicle traffic in December 2015.
6 Overnight
When the Bay Bridge is completed, it will be the fourth largest suspension bridge in the world, with a length of 2 meters. Thanks to the bridge, a vehicle that previously traveled the Gulf of Izmit in about an hour or crossed the ferry in 682 minutes will cross across in 45 minutes. Gebze-Orhangazi İzmir Highway Project will continue along the bridge between Orhangazi and Gemlik in Bursa and will be connected to the Bursa Ring Road by the Ovaakça junction.
After the existing Bursa ring road, the new highway starts again from Bursa - Karacabey junction and passes through the north of Susurluk to Balıkesir. The highway will also pass through Savaştepe, Soma, Kırkağaç districts and proceed parallel to İzmir-Uşak state road through Turgutlu.
3,5 Hours from Istanbul to Izmir
The highway project, whose length is 384 kilometers, also reaches 43 kilometers in length with 427 kilometers of connection roads. When the entire project is finished, a vehicle leaving Istanbul will be able to travel to Izmir, which is normally 7 hours, in 3,5 hours. The bridge will also relieve the Istanbul-Izmit crossing of the TEM and D-100 Highway, which is especially busy in the summer months and during the holidays.
