Old train lines modernize

Old train lines are modernizing: The high-speed train journey that starts between Konya and Ankara goes back to Istanbul, while old train lines are not forgotten.

Electrification and signalization works planned to be carried out in conventional lines are planned to be completed by 2018. Within the scope of this study, signaling on a 2 km line and electrification work on a 670 km line will be applied to the lines. After the works to be completed in 2, 484 percent of the conventional lines will be electrified. On the other hand, signalization will be performed on 2018 percent of the lines.
Until 2003, 78 percent of Turkey's conventional lines without signal, while 80 percent worked without electricity. With the completion of the construction of these systems, a major step will be taken on both economical and safe transportation.
The aim is to increase line capacity, reduce operating costs, reduce carbon emissions, ensure safe transportation, reduce dependence on foreign sources by using electricity in transportation and save time.
Within the scope of the study, the tenders for electrification were carried out in conventional lines. In order to provide cost advantage and to support domestic companies, local bidders were given 15 cost advantage.
